    Also: Yeah, I was wondering about the lifespan thing meself. They come with the filter membrane charged with some sort of glycerine which gets washed out when you prime it. They say the glycerine degrades over time, hence the 3 year life. If you prime it with water, the life extends to 5 years. So long as you keep it wet, I dont see how it can have a life? I think that is probably more to do with "being conservative" and getting you to buy/replace the consumables. Obviously if it freezes, it'l bust the membranes. If it's freezing, prolly best to unscrew the filter and keep it indoors in a placky bag.
